Agent Not Responding in Group?

If your GRUP agent is not replying inside your Telegram group, this guide will help you identify and fix the issue quickly. Below is a step-by-step checklist covering the most common reasons and how to resolve them.

1. Is the Agent Live?

  • Go to the Agents tab

  • Check that the agent status is set to Live (not Paused or Draft)

If it’s not live, toggle the deployment status and re-test in the group.

2. Has the Agent Been Added to the Group?

  • Open your Telegram group settings

  • Make sure the agent bot has been added as a member

  • If not, follow the deployment instructions to add it

3. Does the Agent Have Admin Rights?

  • The bot must have Admin permissions in the group

  • Permissions needed include:

    • Read messages

    • Send messages

    • Add replies and media (if using reactions or media-based tasks)

4. Are Tasks Properly Configured?

  • Go to the agent’s task section and confirm:

    • At least one task exists

    • The task has an active trigger (Group, Time, DeFi, or Twitter)

    • The trigger conditions are realistic for the group’s activity

5. Is There a Trigger Being Met?

  • Tasks only execute when their specific conditions are met

  • For example:

    • A GM task won’t fire unless the scheduled time is reached

    • A reply-to-keyword task won’t work if the keyword hasn’t been used yet

Test the trigger manually in group chat (e.g., say the keyword)

6. Is the Project Knowledge Loaded?

  • Make sure the agent is linked to a project with at least some content

  • Agents need knowledge to answer questions and run smart tasks

If the project is empty or outdated, the agent may stay silent

7. Is There a Telegram Group Setting Blocking It?

  • Some Telegram group settings (especially in private groups or those with restricted bots) may limit bot visibility

  • Check if:

    • Bots are allowed to see messages

    • Anti-spam settings aren’t blocking all automated replies

8. Test in Live Chat

  • Go to the Chat tab inside GRUP

  • Test your agent with real prompts

  • If it responds in Chat but not in Telegram, the issue is related to group integration (not agent logic)

Still Not Working?

  • Try removing the bot from the group and re-adding it

  • Double-check for typos in trigger keywords

  • Ask Grup Copilot to diagnose the setup automatically
